It started with two music-loving best friends.
In the summer of 2016, two teenage girls by the names of Liah Argiropoulos and Alli Dempsey traveled from their homes in Princeton, NJ, and Staten Island, NY, respectively, and met in a pop-up shop in Manhattan for the Strokes and had an instant connection. Not even a month later, they decided to turn their passions into a creative outlet by creating a music blog.
The two started by publishing concert stories and reviews of their favorite albums, but quickly started to gain traction by interviewing artists themselves. The duo have interviewed countless musicians, including indie pop star Alfie Templeman, Peter Morén of Peter Bjorn and John and Franz Ferdinand guitarist Nick McCarthy. In 2019, they presented at Stuart County Day School's Lead Like a Girl conference to talk about their accomplishments as women in the journalism field.
In 2020, Liah started focusing primarily on sports journalism. She is on the sports team at American University's publication, The Eagle, and has been published on Medium and Philly Sports Today.
Alli continued to contribute to Twilight Collective after starting school at SUNY New Paltz in late 2019. After discovering the music scene in the town of New Paltz, NY, she made it her goal to interview artists on the scene, to uphold and share their talent with those who don't have the privilege of living in it.
In 2021, Alli and Twilight Collective were featured in Doors at 7, a documentary about the DIY scene in New Paltz, for her efforts of interviewing and publishing work related to the scene.
Now, Alli continues to live and attend school for Journalism in New Paltz. She is the Arts & Entertainment Editor at the New Paltz Oracle and president of the New Paltz Music Collective. She is so thrilled to be talking to the artists she sees live and to be living her dream every day.
