I'm making it a mission of mine to scout out really new bands that only have a couple songs, or a very small fanbase that's on the verge of blowing up. In case they blow up, I want to be with them through that journey so I can truly say I've been there since the beginning. Here are some new songs I recommend for a new, fresh, 2017 sound! I was watching an Instagram livestream one day (forgot which one) and I noticed a comment by Early Eyes. I followed them and listened to this song a couple days ago. I really like the warmness and chillness it portrayed and it's definitely a song for those lazy days where you're too cold to function. This is their first recording, and they have some live vids on YouTube so I'm hoping for more of those live videos in this year! Okay, I know. Andrew McMahon isn't new at all, he's been around for a while. But, he's been releasing singles like crazy such as this Twenty One Pilots meets Bastille jam and my other favorite, So Close. He toured with Panic and Weezer, and I'm surprised he didn't receive more attention for that. Fire Escape's been playing a lot lately on various Sirius XM stations, so I have a feeling 2017 is gonna be Andrew's year. If it wasn't for having this song on repeat during studying for my Spanish 2 final, I don't think I would have been able to calm down and focus as much as I did. First of all, The Happy Children are a really adorable band. I follow them on Insta and Twitter and I listened to their EP on Bandcamp, and they just seem like really chill guys and would be like your crazy older cousins that let you in on their beer pong game. If I'm not mistaken they even had a party in MN on Friday to celebrate their new single! This video is really cute, too. It makes me want to take my GoPro out, gather my friends, and explore the world. I can feel 2017 will be a great year for them with their talent and successful gigs. Please support them by checking out their album! If you guys read this week's Vibe and Review, you know all about my love for The Fontaines. They're on their way to Indie-fame, let me tell you. They were mentioned on Buzzfeed. That's a great start, y'all.
Honestly, that's all I have so far. It's too early to tell, really. And when I get obsessed with bands, I basically live and breathe them for a couple months, so don't expect a huge variety. Quality over quantity, people. Anyway, please do whatever you can to support and boost these great artists because they all deserve it!
