Spotify playlists can tell you a lot about a person. Looking at the titles, the lyrics of the songs, the descriptions of all of my friend's mixes is an adventure that I will always be willing to go on. I advertise my Spotify account a lot. I post links all the time on my Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter. I mean, it's for good reason! I don't care if I sound braggy, because my beautifully crafted playlists are something that should be bragged about. I make a lot of random mixes in my spare time, and I get asked sometimes.."WHY?" No, not why did I put the band WHY? on one of my playlists, why did i choose this certain mixture of songs and what do all of these songs mean since they are put together? I'm ready to answer those questions now. So buckle up, follow my account, and join me for the ride. The Pocutues FormulaOne winter day in 2016, I was texting someone and I made a typo when I meant to say pictures. I ended up saying "pocutues" instead and made a joke that it sounded like a scientific formula. If it was a formula, I decided, it would be the formula for fun. With that, The Pocutues Formula, later renamed as TPF, and later-er named to The Formula For A Good Time, and then back to The Pocutues Formula, was born. 100 songs are featured on TPF, and I never want to add or delete any. There's lots of different sounding songs from different genres, but the theme stays the same: good vibes and nothing too intense. Even if there are some songs that sound down, it's a mix that will keep a smile on your face and calm you enough to not worry about anything. Highlighted Songs: Common People - Pulp Lazy (Lazy) - Architecture in Helsinki Vegas Lights - Panic! At The Disco Crazy Stuff Has Been Happenin'Even though it is barely May, I have come to the conclusion that 2018 has been the wildest, weirdest, and most surreal year I have ever experienced. I started this playlist in early March as a kind of personal music diary. I chose songs that have played a lot during this year in the background of my mind. l also included songs that remind me of moments that happened, and are currently happening, in this year. Some songs that I chose are extremely straightforward, but I chose some obscure ones with lyrics that don't REALLY relate to anything. In my head I managed to twist them into something I've experienced somehow. I'm strangely looking forward to listening to this playlist in a couple years so I can say "Oh, I remember EXACTLY why I put this song on there!" Highlighted Songs: One Rizla - Shame What I Want - Win Butler Mirror Kisses - The Cribs Shazam!I get corrected by people a lot for this playlist, saying that it's "unnecessary" because "the app for Shazam makes a playlist of your Shazams for you!" Well, firstly, I didn't know that when I started this mix, so it's too late. Second, I like the adventure of going home after a long day of being exposed to new music and searching the songs on Spotify to add to the mix. If you've seen me at all on this blog, you know I live for the little pings of excitement like that. This playlist brings back tons of memories and has exposed me to some new favorite bands, such as Cut off Your Hands (remember them?). Shazam will always be the most important app on my phone, because it taught me that no unnamed song should ever fade away. Highlighted Songs: All of them. They all hold their own memories that are equal in importance for me. Litty CityLike stated in the description, this mix is a very random mix. The story behind it really isn't that interesting, though. I was on 8tracks one day listening to user-made playlists inspired by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. As I listened to more and more, I thought "Hey, all of these songs on these mixes are really good and fitting. I have to admit, I'm pleasantly surprised by some of the choices! I have to save them...why don't I put them all into a Spotify playlist?" So, I guess you can say this mix is a tribute to IASIP in some way. The name was a direct quote from me, because you can't say "litty titty" in every setting. Highlighted Songs: Little Fang - Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks The End - Best Coast What If - Bombay Bicycle Club STAMFOFRI wanted to keep the meaning of this acronym-ed mix a secret for a little bit longer, but I didn't want anyone to think that I actually liked the songs on it. Yes, STAMFOFR stands for Songs That Activate My Fight or Flight Response, which basically means these songs invoke some sort of panic and hatred in me when they come on. I hate these songs for a variety of reasons: there could be bad memories that are linked to them, they could make me extremely uncomfortable, or they're just plain annoying. I don't hate the bands who made these songs, absolutely not! It's just...did they HAVE to write these ones? I'm only kidding; I made this playlist as a complete joke, expecting someone to come up to me and ask what sort of deep meaning the title possesses. Now, I see it as a guide: if you ever are going to dedicate a song for me, make sure it's not one of these. Also, if you need a torture device to use against me, here you go. Highlighted Songs: i was all over her - salvia palth haunt me (x3) - teen suicide Meet Me In Mexico - The Drums Hair Salon TunesThis year has strengthened the appreciation I've had for my local hair salon greatly. Throughout prom, sweet sixteens, and even days where I just needed a self-care blowout, my hairstylists have made me look stunning, surprisingly, for every event I needed to go to. There's a certain home-y vibe in hair salons that bring immense calmness. All the hairstylists come over and tell you you're the prettiest person they've ever seen, there's refreshments, and then a friend of yours walk in, and you talk about you events over the sever loudness of the hairdryers. Plus, the one I go to plays some good songs, mostly indie pop and mainstream alternative. Some of these songs were actually played as I was getting my hair done for prom, but the majority of them I came up with. If I ran a hair salon, I would definitely keep this mix on a loop. Highlighted Songs: The Wire - Haim Sister of Pearl - BAIO Shot At The Night - The Killers My Made-Up Movie SoundtrackThis is the last playlist I will be explaining today, and it's also the youngest one on this list. The idea came of me while I was listening to the first song on this mix, "The Bus Song" by Jay Som. "Wow," I pondered. "If I wrote a movie, I would probably play this song during the opening scene." That thought sent me on a mission to come up with a movie plot using only songs I have saved on my Spotify. The songs included are deep, moving, and meaningful. Most of them tell stories! I'm still not sure what the plot would be, but I'm thinking teen comedy/romance/coming of age. If the future director of my biopic is reading, take notes! Highlighted Songs: The Bus Song - Jay Som Hey Moon - John Maus Inch of Dust - Future Islands There ya go! I have more playlists, but most of them are pretty self-explanatory. For example, my "twenty eight teen" playlist, which is a collection of songs I've liked in 2018 that I can look back on later to remember the good times this year has thrown at me. I hope you learned more about me by glancing into one of my favorite pastimes, and maybe this inspired you to create more obscure playlists. Inspiring obscurity is the goal here at www.twilightcollective.weebly.com/alli! Have a beautiful weekend!
