If anyone else has ever been in this circumstance let me know. You're watching a show you really like and then suddenly you hear something very familiar. OH MY GOSH!!! It's the first few chords to your favorite song! After a couple days of watching that episode, you hear the song again. You can't help but imagining the scene that the song was in. The next time you hear that song, you DO IT AGAIN. That scene is forever attached to that song for you. This happens to me so often it's not even funny, so here are some songs I've heard in shows that I can never hear the same again. ***WARNING: THIS ARTICLE MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE SHOWS I MENTION. PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION.*** Black Out Days: ShamelessShameless is a very raunchy and at times really messed up show, and I really don't know why I started watching it. The only thing is I CAN'T GET OUT OF IT NOW. In Season 4, the main character Fiona gets into a relationship with this really nice dude she works with, but his brother will not stop trying to make out with her. In one scene where they actually do make out, this song played. It was difficult because I really like this song so I was singing along, but at the same time I was cringing because I HATE THIS GUY and FIONA WHY ARE YOU LETTING HIM MAKE OUT WITH YOU JUST BE A NICE AND RESPONSIBLE PERSON FOR ONCE AND STOP HIM. When I heard this song days later, you know it made me angry. I could not stop picturing the brother's weird apartment and I could not stop hearing kissy noises. Shameless actually has a wonderful soundtrack that you should listen to even if you're not interested in watching the show, but some of the moments that they place the songs I like...I can do without. Catfish: Walk To The One You LoveA happy ending where the couple actually gets and STAYS together for a while is a rare sight for Catfish; the show about internet relationships. Catfish has great music as well and they usually give you the name of the song on the bottom tab. I did NOT need that tab when I heard this riff start while they showed some views from the town in Texas they were staying in. I really appreciated hearing this song in that episode because it gave me hope. "Will this lady walk to the one she loves and ACTUALLY STAY with him????" Fortunately, the couple met, the guy was who he said he was, and they drove off into the distance on a dirt bike. So thanks Twin Peaks for blessing that episode with your great tunes, because it totally worked. But now every time I hear this song I picture Texas.... Riverdale: Let Her GoI've mentioned this in another article before, but the songs that were played in the diner in this show were amazing. This is just like, the only one I remember. I think Father John Misty played but I can't recall what song. This song played while the Archie kids were having a conversation, probably about murders n' stuff. The reason this song being in this show stuck with me so hard is because it's so upbeat and simple for a very dark and complicated plot. Thinking about it deeper and putting things into context, now it seems like a darker song to me. I now picture some of the things that happened in the series: the murder mystery, the screaming matches, the "maple syrup.." Great job Riverdale! Ruining a perfectly happy song about self-care and maintaining healthy relationships and making me think about Jason Blossom during it. I hate this. The Office: SingThis next one isn't just "a song only I happened to know." If you watched The Office fully, you. Know. This. Song. That's right, it's the song that Jim and Pam walked out of the building to somewhere in Season 6. I personally love Jam, so this is one of the rare cases where a show ruining a song for me isn't horrible. It makes me happy because I love Travis too and think that this song is freakin' genius, so now I can introduce it to my Office friends and watch them freak out when they know it! They know it, and everyone in the comment section of this video knows it as well. Good on you, Dunder Mifflin. Shameless (again): Get FreeSorry I felt the need to do another Shameless song, but I had to. Like I said, the show has a lit soundtrack! This song played in Season 1, and the scene it was playing in is the reason it puts me on edge and makes me feel the need to run away from something.
When Karen's dad found out Ian and Karen were not doing homework, (watch the scene, you'll catch my drift) he was not happy at all. This caused him to chase Ian and Lip around their house while they wrecked it. The dad screaming, the glass objects falling to the ground and breaking, and Sheila not knowing what is going on at all really add to the vibe that this song as a whole gives. So thanks to that, when this song comes on Alt Nation, I get the urge to jump out of the car and roll away from the law enforcement that is not chasing me. I hope you enjoyed this little segment! What are some songs you like that YOU heard in a TV show? Were you freaked out by the scene it was in? Let me know! Have a great back to school week pals, good luck. We're all gonna need it.
