Yes I'm copying Alli's weekly obsession thing. Shut up. Don't judge me. I'm unoriginal.
Alright, I know this doesn't really count as a weekly obsession, since I've been listening to Ok Go since seventh grade when I heard I Want You So Bad I Can't Breathe on Pandora and then watched a bunch of their music videos in my science class, but last week I really got into Ok Go.

Hot Hot Heat, the band that did extremely well in the 2000s and then dropped off the face of the earth. Hot Hot Heat, the band that played on Yo Gabba Gabba when I was a kid and pretty much made my childhood. Hot Hot Heat, the band that released one final album and silently disappeared.
Thank you, Hot Hot Heat, for all the jams over the years. I can't count the times I've danced around to Bandages and Goodnight Goodnight in my kitchen after school. I can't count the times I've listened to Kid Who Stays In The Picture on long drives this summer. Hot Hot Heat, I'd like to thank you for an awesome seventeen years. I'm proud of you. Alli, Alli, Alli... You're 15. Wow! Iconic! Deep! You've been in existence for a decade and a half! If you were born at any other time we probably wouldn't have met! Incredible! We've been on so many adventures together (MUJI, Princeton Record Exchange, Weezer Prison, Nathan, Saint Motel) and we're just about to go on so many more!
I love you, have a fantastic fifteenth birthday. 1. Favorite song: At the moment, it's SOS In Bel Air by Phoenix, but my all time favorite songs are Stand On The Horizon by Franz Ferdinand, South by Hippo Campus, Breakin' Point by Peter Bjorn and John, The House That Heaven Built by Japandroids, Kid Who Stays In The Picture by Hot Hot Heat, and Midnight On The Hill by Maxïmo Park.
2. Least favorite song: I don't have one, because I always know there will be something worse. 3. A song that makes you happy: Always Where I Need To Be by The Kooks. 4. A song that makes you sad: The Writing's On The Wall by Ok Go. I don't even know why. 5. A song that reminds you of someone: Obstacle 2 by Interpol. 6. A song that reminds you of somewhere: Ocean Breathes Salty by Modest Mouse. It reminds me of Portland, Maine. 7. A song that reminds you of a certain event: Midnight On The Hill by Maxïmo Park. It reminds me of running off into my backyard on a really bad day in the summer and catching fireflies. Things I Won't Get by FFS reminds me of when I was listening to it on a boat and we almost got crushed by another, bigger boat. It really puts life into perspective, yknow? You might not see that giant boat coming to destroy you. On a much lighter note, Threat Of Joy by The Strokes reminds me of when I met Alli. 8. A song you will always know the words to: Always On My Mind by Phantom Planet. 9. A song you can dance to: I can't dance. I dance like a suburban dad at a barbecue. I dance like 2015 Alex Kapranos. No. 10. A song you can fall asleep to: Leave This Island by Maxïmo Park. 11. A song from your favorite band: Stop making me pick favorites, it makes me feel bad. 12. A song from a band you hate: Doubt by Twenty One Pilots. It's a killer song, but I hate the band. 13. A song that reminds you of someone you hate: Technicolor Eyes by Backseat Goodbye. I love the song, but it reminds me of a guy I liked in middle school who turned out not to be the nicest. 14. A song that nobody would expect you to love: Hellabuster by Box Codax. 15. A song that describes you: Someone once said that Panic Station by Muse describes me pretty accurately. 16. A song that you used to like but now you hate: 1997 by Saint Motel. Thanks, Alli. 17. A song you often hear on the radio: Alternative song? Mr Brightside by The Killers. 18. A song you wish you heard on the radio: I don't listen to the radio, so I don't care, but if there's one song I want everyone in the world to listen to, it would probably be Fresh Strawberries by Franz Ferdinand. I think some people really need that message. 19. A song from your favorite album: Meet Me In The Bathroom by The Strokes. Room On Fire could kill me and I wouldn't mind. I love that album. 20. A song you listen to when you're angry: I Won't Come Back by Box Codax. And then I try to copy Fancy Andy's dance moves. That is the most iconic music video. 21. A song you listen to when you're content: My Heart Beats 4 U by Rooney. Would be better without the '4 U' thing, but this song is so chill and I love it. 22. A song you listen to when you're sad: If You Wanna by The Vaccines. 23. A song you want to play at your wedding: Your Side by Young The Giant. It's cute?? Idk???? 24. At The Disco. 32. Your favorite love song: Eleanor Put Your Boots On by Franz Ferdinand. It's so sweet. And then I start crying because I remember Alex and Eleanor broke up in 2006(?) and love is dead. 33. A song you never get sick of hearing : The Dark Of The Matinee by Franz Ferdinand. 34. A song that reminds you of a sibling: My siblings hate everything I listen to. 35. A song you find annoying: none?? idk 36. Your favorite rap song: Does Macklemore count???? I don't listen to any rap. I listened to Nelly a lot in seventh grade, because it was an inside joke (hey Campbell) so I'll just say Number 1 by Nelly. 37. Most listened to song on your iTunes: That feature has sadly disappeared from my phone, but last time I checked, it was Evil Eye by Franz Ferdinand, so let's just go with that. 38. A song you would perform in front of people: Jacked Up by Weezer for vocals, Books From Boxes by Maxïmo Park for guitar. 39. Favorite song from the 70s/80s: Please tell me Under Pressure by David Bowie and Queen is from the 80s, because it's literally SOOOOO ICONIC. LOVE IT. 40. Favorite song from the 90s: The 90s were an iconic decade for music. My favorite song from them is-- Yeah. It's Buddy Holly by Weezer. That song's one of Weezer's most popular songs, but it's still iconic and I still love it. Sorry. 41. Favorite song from the 2000s: WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME CHOOSE?! Anyway, probably Our Velocity by Maxïmo Park. About sums up the decade. 42. A song you hate but listen to anyways: 1997 by Saint Motel. 43. A song that evokes bad memories: Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It reminds me of the Great Guitar Fiasco of Summer 2016. 45. A song from a favorite movie: I don't know?? I don't really watch movies?? And when I do I don't remember the songs in them????? 46. A song you would never sing in public: Oblivius by The Strokes, except I totally sing it in public. All the time. 47. Best female vocalist song: I Don't Wanna Be Funny Anymore by Lucy Dacus. 48. Best male vocalist song: Oblivius by The Strokes. Julian sounds SOOOOOO good. 49. A song with lyrics you don't understand: Say Hello To The Angels by Interpol?? 59. A song with no words: Voyager by Daft Punk 60. Favorite singer/songwriter song: Cola by Backseat Goodbye. I know I rarely get articles up. It's a fact.
I also know that Alli somehow manages to get 57 articles up daily and still text me back during class. I don't know how she does it. I promise I'm working on some stuff. |
