Hello, readers. It's been quite a long time since I've written anything. I've been super busy with school, but I finally have some free time, so it's time for me to write! Welcome to Songs That Sound Like Other Songs. I'm your host, Liah from Twilight Collective. Shall we jump in? NYC - Interpol and Northern Downpour - Panic! At The DiscoThe intro to NYC and the guitar in Northern Downpour sound pretty much almost the same, or at least they do to me. Northern Downpour sounds like an acoustic version of NYC to me, but without the intense vocals about New York (Cares!). Song 2 - Blur and Cold Cold Cold - Cage The ElephantJust another song to add to the list of songs that sound like Song 2. You won't hear it until the end, though. All Day And All Of The Night - The Kinks and Hello I Love You - The DoorsMy dad pointed this one out. I personally love both songs. Everyone traded music around in the 60s, so it was quite obvious this was going to happen... I had to go back to Sounds Just Like because I couldn't think of anything else. Let's see some of their matches and decide if they're on to something or not. Gold On The Ceiling - The Black Keys and The Jean Genie - David BowieUm, I think I see a lawsuit coming up. Yeah. That's the same guitar riff. I love both songs, though. How To Be A Heartbreaker - Marina and the Diamonds and Reptilia - The StrokesI'd say the riff is pretty close, but it's not the iconic Reptilia riff we all know and love. I want to listen to Reptilia now. And then I had a revelation. I was thinking a lot about this article over the past few days. I've been wanting to get something, or more like literally anything, up on the blog and I wanted it to be this article. The revelation, you ask? I was thinking about guitar solos. Oblivius. Aerodynamic. The Fallen. Books From Boxes. And then I thought about the 60s. 60s songs are all so easy to me, I mean, it really was the 'beginning' of rock as we know it. How many times have you seen a band compared to the Beatles? How many times have you seen the Beatles compared to the Beatles? How many times have you seen the frontman and guitarist of a band called 'the new Lennon and McCartney?' How many times has your favorite band been compared to the Rolling Stones, or the Kinks, even? How many times have you wanted it all to end????? There has to be a reason everyone's compared to a 60s band. There has to be a similarity somewhere. I was thinking about the guitar solo in the Kinks' All Day And All Of The Night. Actually, I was thinking about how easy it was to play on guitar up until the solo. But as I was thinking about the solo, it transformed into another solo. I had discovered a song that sounds like another song. So, what do you guys think? Are the solos in these songs similar, or not at all?
If you have any songs you think sound like other songs, send them to me and I'll cover them in the next installment of Songs That Sound Like Other Songs. See you soon.

Regarding Heartbreaker/Reptilia: you're right that it doesn't sound much like the Reptilia riff, but the real similarity is between the guitar at 0:21/2:54 in Heartbreaker and 1:14/2:51 in Reptilia! :)
